Beginning this month, the museum will focus on a new exhibit, The Trail of Tears. An upcoming oral project in the Fall will be a joint effort among Checotah High School's Broadcasting Class,the museum, and local Native Americans who's ancestors walked the Trail. Fall dates to come.

Ongoing event

On the third Thursday of each month from
2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Heartland Heritage Museum and Art Gallery, Mel Phillips of the Oklahoma Anthropological Society, will talk about how he identifies locally found arrowheads and other similar items. Everyone is encouraged to bring your ‘finds’ and join in our ‘show and tell’ session with other locals. The public is invited and the session is free of charge. Hope you can join us!
