                           EXHIBITS

Each month the museum will feature an exhibit of local interest. Our exhibits are small in size but powerful because they represent the contribution of Checotah's citizens to their community.

Glenn Clarkson's Lures

Glenn grew up in Checotah and began crafting lures after his retirement. His lures are whittled from pinewood and uniquely painted in acrylic and sealed. The History of Fishing Museum once featured Glenn's lures in a exhibit called Karl's Korner.

Lawrence Wood "Woody" and his sculptures

Woody's sculptures have been featured in various galleries across many states. He and his wife Rose created the  Wood Rose Ranch design for their logo. Woody's unique method for carving his sculptures begins with a chainsaw to get the overall shape of the piece. Then he uses various chisels to fine tune his sculpture. Woody's choice of wood for carving is walnut and his inspiration comes from pictures and photographs.
